TURA: The selection of general category candidates for pursuing B.Sc Agriculture course under the state quota has irked the Meghalaya Hajong Welfare Association (MHWA), which strongly condemned the illegal selection while also demanding an immediate probe into the matter.
In its letter to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, the MHWA pointed out that whilst the allotment was given under Other Tribes (OT) category, the candidates neither belonged to OT nor to ST category.
“The selection of the candidates is illegal and they must not be allowed to take admission in the college. An inquiry must be conducted into their controversial nomination and a candidate from the deserving category must be nominated in their places,” the MHWA demanded.
