Shillong: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Thursday condemned the attack on journalists in neighbouring Assam while stressing the need for a vibrant and responsible media sharing information without fear.

“I condemn the incident in no certain terms and will urge all concerned in identifying and booking all criminals irrespective of who they are and the position they hold,” Dr Sangma said.

He said that booking the culprits would send the right message to the people.

Earlier, members of the Shillong Press Club pinned a black ribbon on the Chief Minister to protest the attack on the media fraternity.
