2 more COVID deaths take state’s toll to 19

SHILLONG: Meghalaya has reported two more deaths due to Covid-19 taking the total number of deaths in the state to 19.
DHS (MI) Dr Aman War informed a 58-year-old woman from Laban was brought dead to a private hospital in the city on Tuesday night while another another 78-year-old lady from Garikhana also died due to COVID on Wednesday.
The DHS informed that both had comorbidity and they were taken to Nazareth Hospital.
Meanwhile, the state on Wednesday reported another 121 new positive cases of COVID-19 while 107 people also recovered on the same day.
Dr War said that from the new 121 cases, 30 cases were detected from East Khasi Hills, two fro Ri Bhoi, four from South Garo Hills, 25 from West Garo Hills, 59 from East Jaintia Hills and one from West Khasi Hills.
The news cases have taken the total number of active positive cases to 1,355 while a total of 1,823 people have recovered so far.
The 1,355 active cases include 869 in East Khasi Hills, 31 in West Khasi Hills, one in South West Khasi Hills, 117 in Ri Bhoi, 11 in West Jaintia Hills, 85 in East Jaintia Hills, 193 in West Garo Hills, five in South West Garo Hills and 20 in South Garo Hills.
So far 10490 samples have been sent for testing of which 99,640 tested negative and results of 1,253 samples are awaited.
As of now, 34,399 returnees have returned back to the state.
