Two drown in river near Sohra

 Shillong: In tragic incident, two friends were washed away by the strong current of a river at Dainthlen, Sohra on Saturday.

The duo has been identified as Koshik Roy, an accountant at the Ranee Motors, Mawblei and Sonia, a student of the Presbyterian Church Madanriting School.

According to Ian Onel Swer, SDPO of Sohra, the duo had gone to the place for sightseeing. The girl fell into river while climbing a rock to click photograph.

Roy immediately jumped into the river to save Sonia. But the strong current of the river washed him away too.

Later, police found Roy’s body.

“Our team is conducting a rescue operation to recover the girl’s body”, Swer said.
