SHILLONG: A war-of-words broke out between Education Minister Prof RC Laloo and the Sangma brothers (Conrad and James Sangma) after the former refused to reply to the supplementary question raised by Opposition Leader Conrad K Sangma on the status of 30 percent arrears for the deficit school teachers during the Question Hour of the Assembly’s Autumn Session on Wednesday.

‘I would not reply to this supplementary question since it is not related to the main question raised by the Opposition Leader,” Prof Laloo said after Conrad had raised a question on the

salaries of the deficit school teachers before asking a supplementary on the status of the 30 per cent arrears.

“The two brothers (Conrad and his elder brother James K Sangma) have never showed their appreciation whenever I tried to reply to their queries”, Prof Laloo added.

Later, Assembly Speaker Charles Pyngrope had to intervene to bring the House into order after the war-of-words broke out between the NCP legislators and the Education Minister.

Earlier, replying to the main query raised by Conrad, Prof Laloo informed that funds are being released to the school management committees with instructions that all dues should be paid in full to the teachers without any deductions.
