SHILLONG: As political circles here are hearing talks about possible rejig in the cabinet, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has commented for the first time saying that it was the prerogative of concerned parties to nominate new members in the state cabinet.
The statement came from Sangma as the ruling MDA has completed two and half years in office and speculations are rife about reshuffling in BJP and HSPDP which are minor coalition partners in the MDA.
The Chief Minister on Thursday stated the obvious that the individual political parties who are part of the coalition will have to take a call if there has to be a cabinet reshuffling. Sangma said that they are very clear in their commitment and there is certain quota or certain number of seats for every party in the Cabinet. It was for them to nominate who should represent them in the Cabinet.
When asked if the NPP would bring some new faces in the Cabinet, Sangma said that he will not be able to comment being a national president of the party. He said that the State president of the NPP would decide on the issue.
While the matter pertaining to a reshuffle in the BJP is pending with the Central leadership, the HSPDP on the other hand is holding discussions between its two MLAs to reach an amicable solution over the matter of reshuffling.
The PDF on its part will discuss the issue next week.
