SHILLONG: NCP observer for the Northeastern states, Robert Kharshiing, has sought public opinion on whether to forge a pre-poll alliance with like-minded parties including the Congress, UDP, HSPDP, KHNAM or to have a ‘brand new alliance’ with all sections of the people of the State to finalise sixty good and honest candidates.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Kharshiing said that corruption, unemployment, poverty, violence & insurgency and inflation & price rise are the main issues concerning the common people in the country.
According to Kharshiing, if voted to power, the NCP would form a consensus all-party government which would focus on development and not on divisive, petty party politics.
He also said that the Jan Lokpal Bill will be suitably modified for the State or the Lokayukta Bill will be passed in the first Session of the Assembly itself.
“The advice of Anna Hazare, Baba Ramdev, Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi, Shanti Bhushan, Prashant Bhushan and Justice Hegde and their colleagues will be sought,” he told reporters.
“There shall be ‘direct funding’ to all dorbar shnong, village councils, dorbar dong, village localities, seng longkmies and others,” he added.
The NCP leader also asserted that an initial sum of Rs 150-160 crore will be set aside in the first budget itself for the ‘direct funding’.
“The NCP government will offer an unemployment benefit or monthly grant to unemployed youths in the state,” Kharshiing said.
