GUWAHATI: The University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) has rubbished the allegation levelled by the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), saying that the B.Ed programme is approved by National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE).
Only recently, the KSU had claimed that despite the NCTE withdrawing the recognition for B.Ed in Qoumrul Hoque School of Education, USTM, the University was still continuing to draw and attract advertisements for admission in B.Ed courses for the year 2020.
In a statement on Tuesday, the USTM said that its B.Ed programme is approved by NCTE, MBA programme is approved by AICTE, New Delhi, LLB and BA LLB programmes are approved by Bar Council of India, while B Bharma and D Pharma Courses are approved by Pharmacy Council of India.
“The advertisement notification for admission into B.Ed programme for the session 2020-21 has been released only after getting clearance from NCTE on restoration of recognition as many students, particularly from Meghalaya, were constantly pursuing about the new admission in B.Ed programme,” the statement said.
Accusing the KSU of spreading “fake news” sans verifying the facts from the authorities of the USTM, the University said, “It is extremely disheartening to note that the KSU has tried to malign the image of this university by spreading false information that the university is running its B.Ed programme without approval from NCTE whereas Prof. Qoumrul Hoque School of Education (PQSE) of University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya, has been offering B.Ed programme since 2014 with due approval from National Council for Teachers’ Education (NCTE), Eastern Regional Committee (ERC), Bhubaneswar”.
