No ‘Phoolpati Shova Yatra’ this year: Puja committee

Shillong: The Gorkha Durga Puja Committee on Sunday issued a notification that due to the COVID-19 pandemic; the Phoolpati Shova Yatra will not be carried out on October 23 and there will be no animal sacrifice during the ensuing puja festival this year.
They also urged the devotees to adhere to all health protocols issued by the government while visiting mandir premises. Individuals are asked to maintain social distancing, while touching of idols, entry inside the ‘kot ghar’ (mandap) is strictly prohibited and wearing of mask and washing of hands is mandatory.
Physical offerings like tika, Prasad and sprinkling of holy water are also not allowed.
Only asymptomatic person are permitted to enter the premises, and the use of Aarogya Setu app is advised, the committee said in the statement.
