Shillong : Sixty-seven teams from 20 countries embarked on a 3,500-kilometer long journey on Sunday from Shillong to Jaisalmer in Rajasthan in colourfully decorated and themed auto-rickshaws. The annual event organised by a group from UK, The Adventurists, aims to raise money for charity in India. The group of adventurers will complete the journey on September 22. The auto-rickshaws were flagged off by former State Home Minister RG Lyngdoh.
The group has already raised around 50,000 pounds for charity and the Shillong-Jaisalmer run is set to raise nearly 1 lakh pounds for wide range of charities with the official charity being Frank Water Projects, which aims to provide sustainable and clean water solutions for communities who desperately need it using the latest technology.
