SHILLONG: Principal of St. George School, Nongmynsong, Simon Joseph and NGOs of the locality are likely to sign a peace pact next week following spate of allegations and counter allegations between the school principal and KSU Nongmynsong unit over allegation of molestation of a class IX student of the school by the principal.
The issue dates back to May 19, when an allegation was raised against Joseph that he had molested a class IX student of the school, following which he was arrested after the family members of the girl filed an FIR. Later, the principal filed a counter FIR against the KSU members alleging harassment and raising fears of insecurity.
Though the principal is keen to sign the peace bond, the KSU members and Seng Longkmie are reluctant to sign the bond saying they will not sign it since they are not guilty of anything.
Members of KSU and Seng Longkmie of the area and the principal of the school appeared before the Extra Assistant Magistrate PK Sangma for a hearing into the matter on Monday.
The hearing would continue to further investigate to find out the truth behind the allegations.
The principal, however, reiterated that he had not committed the crime and to prove his claim, he produced medical reports of the girl which states that there was no visible external injury and no scratch marks on the girl’s body.
“It is alleged that I molested the girl on the school verandah but how can I molest her in front of everyone,” he questioned.
The KSU members, on the other hand, alleged that the principal is running the school on a rented land although he is claiming ownership of the land.
“If he does not feel secure in our locality he can leave it,” one of the members of the Seng Longkmie quipped.
