SHILLONG: A separate road is being constructed for people visiting Shillong Peak without having to enter the Indian Air Force (IAF) premises.
State Planning Board chairman, Lambor Malngiang, who is also the MLA of Laitkor constituency, on Tuesday informed that the project is progressing well and the construction would be completed soon.
The road, which is being constructed from 5th Mile, will take the visitors directly to the Shillong Peak.
As of now, any visitor to the Shillong Peak has to go through the several security checks at the highly secured IAF station, which is usually time-consuming.
Meanwhile, Malngiang on Tuesday also inspected the road leading to Shillong Peak from Laitkor besides another 1.2-km internal road at Laitkor that connects to NEEPCO headquarters and Doordarshan Shillong. “These roads are in a very bad condition and we will immediately submit a proposal to the government to repair these roads,” he said.
