Corrigendum
The news report published in The Shillong Times on October 29, 2020, erroneously mentioned NPP MLA Comingone Ymbon’s name instead of Congress MLAs Mohindro Rapsang and David Nongrum. The error is regretted.

Expelled
State BJP president, Ernest Mawrie, has expelled six party members from Ri Bhoi, viz.  Silenstar Rani, Stining S Nongbri, Comfort Dolloi, Ebinel Dkhar, Broster Laloo and Banri Lapang. According to a statement, they were “expelled over anti-party activities on recommendation of Partie’s Disciplinary Committee”.

Awareness week
The North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), as part of the Vigilance Awareness Week, took the Integrity Pledge, circulated by the Commission, on October 29 in front of the varsity’s Administrative Block. It may be mentioned that the Vigilance Awareness Week is observed every year during the last week of October to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the fight against corruption and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity of and the threat posed by corruption.
The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) is observing Vigilance Awareness Week thematised on ‘Satark Bharat, Samriddh Bharat (Vigilant India, Prosperous India)’ till November 2.

Natl Unity Day
The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier on Thursday organised a pledge-taking ceremony on the account of National Unity Day, which marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. According to a statement, the BSF organised the pledge-taking ceremony at its Jowai, Mawpat and Dobasipara sector headquarters as well as other locations of BSF battalions.

Unclaimed body
The Joint Director of Health Services (SS), Civil Hospital, Shillong, has informed that a male patient named Badapa (55), C/o Jowai, West Jaintia Hills, was admitted in the Male Surgical Ward, Bed No 17, on October 5 night. However, the patient passed away on the afternoon of October 25. The hospital authorities have, meanwhile, requested all concerned relatives, to collect the body from the hospital morgue immediately, failing which the body will be sent for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board.

Live-streaming
In a first, makeSomeoneSMILE and FLAIRAXIS live-streamed on YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp the puja celebrations for people. According to a statement, the idea, which gained attention from around 15,000 Shillongites, was proposed by Sidhant Deb and Vishal Choudhury from FLAIRAXIS.
