SHILLONG, Nov 12: The demand for NEHU VC SK Srivastava’s resignation has yet again cropped up, now with HYC NEHU and HYC Education Cell saying that the VC should be sent back to his parent university in Manipur.
Citing that Srivastava has no reason to continue as his term is over and he has no “business to continue”, the HYC said, “It is most unfortunate for Meghalaya and North East that despite the expiry of his term, Prof SK Srivastava is permitted to continue as the VC. Is NEHU now a dumping ground,” the organisation said.
It also accused the VC of violating all rules of seniority in NEHU statute.
“Examples are mostly from one Indian state. One dean’s term of office was over. The next day he was appointed as head of department. In yet another case, a particular professor is given a second term as Director of Internal Quality Assessment Cell (IQAC). A junior faculty has been made professor and dean in a particular school and he is also made in charge of many other important posts. Some other professors got promotions in an undue manner”, the organisation said.
The organisation said that NEHU needs a qualified home-grown professor who can take care of the interests of tribal students and people of the state.
