Shillong: Union minister of State for Rural Development, Agatha Sangma, on Thursday denied having any knowledge on the possibility of her being dropped from the UPA Cabinet.

Stating that she is not aware of any such report, the Union Minister said, “I can’t really say anything until I get an official intimation from the party.”

Agatha was speaking on the sidelines of a function held to observe the International Day of Peace at the Khasi National Dorbar Hall here on Thursday.

There are unconfirmed reports that NCP president Sharad Pawar would recommend dropping the young minister from Meghalaya from the Dr Manmohan Singh-led Cabinet to accommodate senior NCP leader Tariq Anwar.

Meanwhile, commenting on the current political scenario in the country, the Tura MP said the ‘tricky’ state of the current political situation is likely to lead to mid-term elections in the country.

Ms Sangma, while clarifying that it was her personal opinion, said the situation has been brought about by improper deliberations between the Congress and the coalition partners.

“There are various factors which have brought about this situation and there is a repercussion of not deliberating well with the coalition partners. That is what Mamata Banerjee has been complaining about,” she said.
