Teachers remind CM of demands

TURA, Nov 26: The 4th teachers from Garo Hills under the banner of the All Meghalaya 4th Teachers’ Association, Garo Hills Unit on Thursday submitted a reminder of their earlier memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Education Director Ambrose Ch Marak.
The reminder of their memorandum with various demands which was served on October 9 this year was handed over to the chief minister and the education official during the function for the foundation laying ceremony of the new Williamnagar Government College in East Garo Hills.
The teachers have since long been demanding the enhancement of their salaries from the current Rs 6000 to Rs 20,493 as proposed earlier by the Director of School Education and Literacy (DSEL).
