Cop shot at in WK Hills

 SHILLONG: A havildar of Meghalaya Police was injured when suspected militants fired at a group of police personnel on Monday afternoon at Deingan near Nongkhyllem in South West Khasi Hills.

According to police, the havildar J Sangma sustained bullet injury on his hand during the shoot out.

The identity of the militant outfit is yet to be ascertained.

The South West Khasi Hills have the presence of GNLA and ANVC (B) militants.

Moreover several extortionist groups are camping in and around Nongkhyllem, a forest area.

Several thick jungles of Nongkhyllem area are being used as hideout by various militant groups.

Deputy Commissioner Aldous Mawlong said over phone that additional forces had been dispatched on Monday evening t to flush out the criminals.
