SHILLONG: The Block Development Office, Mawryngkneng C&RD Block in partnership with DCIC, East Khasi Hills District, organized a one-day orientation programme for entrepreneurs and SHGs at Seven Huts Resort, Mawryngkneng  today.

The programme which was attended by the senior officers from DCIC, East Khasi Hills and the Block Development Officer, Mawryngkneng highlighted the need of the entrepreneurs and SHGs to avail the benefits under the scheme.

The BDO while inaugurating the Orientation Programme lamented that very few entrepreneurs have availed the scheme, either for want of knowledge or fear of being unable to repay loans.

He also lamented that hardwork and confidence evade many young entrepreneurs and SHGs within the Block and therefore the scheme is not availed. He called upon the members present to avail the opportunities provided by the scheme and to be determined, resolute, honest and industrious in implementing the scheme as and when granted.

With the current pandemic, wherein many returnees have had to forego employment, PMEGP is the opportunity for the returnees to set up their own functional enterprises.

The sessions on the PMEGP scheme were provided by the Officers of the DCIC, EKH District lead by the Functional Manager, Gordon Langstieh. The sessions were interactive and the participants which included young entrepreneurs and members of SHGs expressed anticipation and eagerness to avail the scheme.
