SHILLONG, Dec 17: Following the NPP Youth Wing’s jibe at the Congress over the Meghalaya Residents’ Safety and Security Act (MRSSA), 2016, which stated it is only an instrument to play with people’s emotions and garner votes for the Congress, the Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress has cast aspersions on the NPP’s wing for the remark.
Terming the statement unethical, the MPYC reminded the NPP Youth Wing that the MRSSA, 2016, was passed by all the MLAs in the State Assembly after engaging with the stakeholders.
“To term MRSSA, 2016 as toothless, it may be just an excuse to save their ego,” MPYC said, while maintaining that the MRSSA is the only law that can protect the jaitbynriew and prevent influx. “This is the )only law in our state which will give recognition and empowerment to Sordars, Nokmas, Dalois, Rangbah Shnong,” it added.
Taking a swipe at the NPP Youth Wing, the MPYC said instead of making such remarks they should urge the NPP leaders to release the pending salaries and arrears of the employees of MCCL, MeECL and the GHADC and JHADC, besides SSA teachers and municipal staff.
