SHILLONG: The ANVC (B) on Friday alleged that the State Government has violated the internal agreement which it had signed with the latter on April 13 by arresting some of its cadres who were about to surrender.
Without elaborating on the nature of the agreement, the ANVC (B) said that since the outfit was willing to hold talks with the authorities, police should not have arrested its cadres.
The militant outfit also alleged that its members were tortured by the police. “They (the cadres) were electrocuted and even forced to drink toilet water which is a violation of human rights,” the outfit said.
“If the Government is serious about peace then the police should release the cadres within three days,” the outfit said.
It may be noted that police had arrested three ANVC (B) cadres recently for allegedly collecting money from traders in Tura, West Garo Hills.
