Addressing the conference of superintendents of police & commandants (SP/CO) here at the Police Headquarters on Thursday, the Chief Minister said there is a need for secured housing complexes for the families of police personnel, especially those who are posted outside the State.

The housing complexes would be constructed in South Garo Hills and West Garo Hills districts at a cost of Rs 30 crore each, which would be funded by the Union DoNER Ministry.

During the day, the Chief Minister flagged off seven police patrol vehicles for Shillong (five) and Tura (two), which would be used for round the clock vigilance duty and to attend to all emergency calls from the public.

The superintendents of police of East Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills districts would be responsible for monitoring the functioning, attentiveness and deployment of the patrol vehicles.
