SHILLONG, Jan 23: Days after the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive kick-started across the country, Meghalaya has been consistent in inoculating the healthcare workers, with around 158 of them from state getting vaccinated on Saturday.
“Around 158 healthcare workers were vaccinated, which is 83 per cent of the target for the day,” Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare department, Sampath Kumar, said.
There were three session sites across three districts.
It may be mentioned that as of January 23, 2215 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in the state.
District Task Force meetings have been conducted under the chair of respective deputy commissioners to plan the vaccination schedule for the coming week.
The Meghalaya Government, during the first phase, )is looking to vaccinate around 16,000 health workers out of the 27,000 that have been identified so far.
After the vaccination of health workers, the state government will focus on other frontline workers such as municipal workers, police, among others.
However, in the third phase, the Meghalaya Government will be inoculating people above 50 years of age and the ones with comorbid conditions.
