SHILLONG, Feb 6: The Opposition Congress fired a fresh salvo at Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong claiming that people of his constituency might be involved in illegal activities.
“Cattle smuggling has been going on for couple of years and probably knowingly or unknowingly Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong’s people might be involved and when somebody is involved and he or she is charged then they are offended they get angry easily and this is the reflection we are getting from the Deputy Chief Minister,” Congress Spokesperson Zenith Sangma said while speaking to reporters on Saturday.
He said this while responding to a recent statement of the Deputy Chief Minister challenging the Leader of Opposition, Mukul Sangma to contest the next election from Pynursla.
“It was a childish reaction by Prestone Tynsong. The government should be serious and try to find out the veracity of the charges,” Sangma said.
The Leader of Opposition had recently stated that illegal limestone mining and cattle smuggling were taking place through Pynursla, the constituency of the deputy CM. In response, Tynsong had dared Mukul Sangma to contest from his constituency against him.
