SHILLONG, Feb 9: Renewing his attack on NEHU, Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) MLA, Adelbert Nongrum has cast aspersions over its e-tendering procedure.
In a statement on Tuesday, the MLA, while pointing out that the North-Eastern Hill University’s (NEHU) e-tendering portal is on an unrecognised URL – https://nehu.euniwizarde.com, said that questions were raised earlier on this ‘opaque’ portal which now stand vindicated.
Accusing the university of ‘quietly’ changing term of registration per year to one time, which was raised and is now brought into tender notice by NEHU, he said that this is an admission to the fact that earlier tender documents were manipulated by asking for registration fee every year, which is now corrected without divulging any reasons.
He added that the University issued work order to one firm from Bangalore with certain terms and conditions including one-time registration for contractors at the cost of Rs 2,000 with applicable taxes.
“… Even the host portal ‘euniwizard.com’ is changed to ‘euniwizarde.com’, which is a blatant violation and optical play by changing the name of the host in a manipulative manner,” Nongrum said.
“How much money has been collected and what is the money trail is still opaque. Now that NEHU has quietly corrected a critical element, time has come to fix the responsibility on those who manipulated this whole procedure of e-tendering,” the statement said.
The legislator suggested that an investigation can fix the responsibility, adding, “The officer who has plotted it has no right to continue”.
