School in EKH bags Wipro Earthian Award

SHILLONG, Feb 13: A school based in Jongksha, East Khasi Hills, has bagged the Wipro Earthian Award 2020.
According to a statement, Good Shepherd Higher Secondary School, Jongksha, was conferred with the award comprising cash prize and certificates during a virtual programme on Saturday.
It may be mentioned that Wipro Earthian is one of India’s largest sustainability education programmes for schools and colleges. This award, in its 10th year, has been constituted by the Wipro Foundation to recognise excellence in sustainability within the education process in schools and colleges across India.
“The 2020 edition of the program saw over 900 project entries, out of which winning entries from 20 schools and 8 colleges were selected by an independent jury,” the statement said.
“Baiahunlang Kharahnoh, Ivoreen Kharsahnoh, Naphisabet Suting, Ibakyntiew Kharmulieh, and Tinamary Nongspung along with their mentors Seiborlang Warbah and Teibhalang Warlarpih prepared the winning project on biodiversity,” it added.
Meanwhile, the school principal, George Jacob, has congratulated the students for achieving the feat.
