KHLIEHRIAT, Feb 19: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organised an awareness programme on ‘Poverty Alleviation Scheme’, at Samasi Village, East Jaintia Hills, on Friday.
Speaking at the programme, chief judicial magistrate, DS Marbaniang, said that these government schemes are meant for the well-being of all citizens. He also spoke on the importance of para legal volunteers, and how they are instrumental in providing necessary assistance to the people who do not have much knowledge about these schemes and their benefits.
He further added that a legal clinic and support centre will also be set up in Samasi.
The awareness programme was attended by the village headmen and secretaries of 17 villages.
