Tura, March 1: The Williamnagar Half Marathon 2021 was on Sunday organized by the East GaroHills District Sports Officer in collaboration with the District Sports Promotion Society and the Swacch Bharat Mission both for Male and Female of 18 years and above. The half marathon was participated by more than 350 runners of the town. In the men’s category Tlandieng Wahlang of Mawkyrwat grabbed the first prize of Rs. 20,000.00 while Betnar A Sangma and Witnar A Sangma of Te.bronggre village in West Garo Hills took away the second prize of Rs. 15,000.00 and the third prize of Rs. 10,000.00 respectively. In the women’s category, Kyntimon Marwein and Badasharai Marwein of Mawlangwir in South West Khasi Hills took away the first and third prizes while Smile Orchid M Momin of Walbakgre in Tura, grabbed the second prize. While flagging of the run, East Garo Hills DC, Swapnil Tembe, informed that the first such run was organised in 2019 and it could not be organised last year due to Covid-19 pandemic. The amount for the first prize for both the men’s and women’s category was sponsored by Bonkey R Marak, the proprietor of Ecocraft, Williamnagar.
