SHILLONG: The newly-formed National People’s Party (NPP) has released the third list of candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections.

As per the list, former Minister Dr SC Marbaniang will contest from Nongkrem , Miltan Sangma, former MDC, from Baghmara and while Balen A Sangma will try his luck from Gambegre.

Through the first and second lists, the party had cleared the names of all the sitting NPP legislators except Sanbor Shullai and Adolf Hitler Marak, who remained with NCP.

The NPP leader PA Sangma has already started the groundwork to popularize the party among the masses by holding series of block-level meetings especially in Garo Hills.

Though majority of NCP legislators have merged with NPP, the party is yet to submit the official papers related to the merger to the Assembly Speaker Charles Pyngrope.

Moreover, the Speaker is also yet to pronounce his verdict on the petition filed by Shullai seeking disqualification 11 ‘defectors’.
