SHILLONG: Pynskhemlang Nongshl-ong, who has been agitating seeking an early end to Assam-Meghalaya border dispute, has postponed his second phase of agitation scheduled for October 18 after being denied permission by the district administration to hold the indefinite hunger strike in the city.
Nongshlong who met East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal on Thursday, said the senior official refused to grant him permission due to the upcoming Durga puja festivities.
The Deputy Commissioner told him that he did not want any law and order problem during the Puja festival.
Meanwhile, he submitted a fresh permission letter to hold the proposed hunger-strike from October 26.
Nongshlong had recently resolved to hold the indefinite hunger strike at the State Secretariat compound in Shillong as part of launching his second phase of agitation against the State Government’s failure resolve border dispute with Assam.
Meanwhile, Nongshlong also met Principal Secretary (Home) KS Kropha to discuss on this issue.
