SHILLONG, March 7: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader, Mukul Sangma, has argued that the unity within the party is very crucial during any political battle.
“We have discussed with all party leaders about the unity within the party in the preparations for the forthcoming GHADC elections,” Mukul told reporters recently.
He said that the preparations for any election is a herculean task and comes with challenges. “For a political party like the Indian National Congress (INC), we have quite a number of promising leaders who are keen to contest from the party. It’s a tough task to really zero in on people who are really committed to serve the people,” the CLP maintained. He informed that the party is looking for candidates who are committed to work towards the betterment of the state and its people.
“We need to be very particular while selecting the candidates, especially when the young aspiring leaders are seeing that the elected members are enriching themselves too fast. We had one-to-one discussions with all the ticket aspirants since we want to know if this is the factor which has lured them into joining politics,” Mukul said.
He, however, expressed satisfaction over the fact that the candidates, who they have finalised, seem to be individuals who are committed to serve the people.
