MAWKYRWAT, March 3: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Mawkyrwat circle, has accused the district police of forcefully entering the houses of its members and harassing them during night time.
The Union also said that the police have accused them of being involved in the recent attack on the labourers from Assam at St. Xavier’s College in Umoid, South West Khasi Hills.
“We have received information that the police forcefully entered the houses of our members during night time in search for them as if they are terrorists or belong to armed group,” KSU Mawkyrwat circle president, Pauldeep Tongwah, said in a statement on Monday.
Tongwah also warned that the Police department and the state government will have to take the responsibility if anything happens.
“We demand that the police should immediately stop these kinds of barbarian acts because the Union cannot just watch when the members are being harassed. We will tolerate as long as we are able to, but if we cannot bear anymore, the Police department and the Government of Meghalaya will have to take responsibility if anything happens because there will be a time where we will stop talking with the government,” Tongwah said.
