SHILLONG, March 15: Scholarships due to students will be released as soon as the bank account-related issues of beneficiaries are resolved.
This was informed by Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui while replying to a question raised by Mawlai MLA, PT Sawkmie, during the Question Hour of the Assembly on Monday.
The minister also informed that the verification of the scholarship application for 2020-21 is in progress.
Stating that it will be wrong to say that scholarships for the past five years have not been disbursed, Rymbui said that the scholarship of some students might have been rejected due to the problems related with their bank  accounts, besides documents which may not have been in proper order.
The state‘s contribution for the scholarship, sponsored through the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, is 10 per cent, Rymbui added.
