SHILLONG, Match 16: Sputnik CC handed a 267 run beatdown on Young Guns CC in their Shillong Cricket League Super Division match here on Tuesday following some stellar performances. Young Guns won the toss and chose to field first after which Sputnik reached a gigantic 344/7 in the allotted 35 overs thanks to a splendid 168 runs scored by Man of the Match Abhay Negi. Abhay’s flawless knock came off only 82 balls resulting in a strike rate of over 200. All-rounder Abhishek Biswa was able to restore some pride for Young Guns with the ball as he fetched a 3-wicket haul that cost him 48 runs. With a herculean task ahead of having to chase 345 for a win, Young Guns faltered early on and lost wickets at regular intervals before being bundled out for a paltry 77 in 11.4 overs. Sputnik’s Aryan Bora demolished the Young Guns batting lineup, returning with amazing figures of 8/24 in 6 overs. For Young Guns, it was once again Abhishek who shone, although this time with the bat, top scoring with 40 off only 21 deliveries.
