SCL C Division:Jersey Kings, Youth Club register wins

SHILLONG, March 20: The Shillong Cricket League C Division got underway here on Saturday with Jersey Kings and Youth Club securing wins in their respective matches. In the first match of the day, Youth Club came out on top against Lumdiengjri as they registered a thrilling 3 run win. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Youth Club scored 182/4 in the allotted 20 overs. Man of the Match Akash Purkayastha scored 53 runs off 34 balls and was supported by Subam Choudhury (30) to put up a respectable total. Fernandes took 3/37 for Lumdiengjri. In reply, Lumdiengjri fell just three runs short as they were left stranded at 179/6 by the end of their innings. Syed Subash scored a gritty 56 in 38 balls while Gufaran made a fast-paced 49 off 23 balls. Nishant took 2 wickets for Youth Club.
Meanwhile, Jersey Kings defeated LMYA by a comprehensive 7 wicket margin in the other match of the day. LMYA won the toss and chose to bat first putting up 149/5 in 20 overs. Tanveer scored 53 in 39 balls while Wanbiang made 30. Sanjeev Rai took 2/40 in 4 overs. In reply, Kings made 153/3 in 16.1 overs with Man of the Match Raj Biswa scoring 63 and Arun Sewa adding 28. Wanbiang took 2/37 for LMYA.
