SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills district administration on Thursday demolished shops which were constructed illegally on Government land in front of the District Transport Officer (DTO)’s office in Lachumiere.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, JD Suchiang, informed that the shops were demolished following an order issued by the Revenue Court recently.

“The Government would require the land for expansion of the parking lot,” Suchiang informed.

It was also informed that the Government has allotted separate stalls for those shop owners whose stalls were demolished.
