New Delhi: The Arvind Kejriwal-led India Against Corruption (IAC) was on Saturday granted permission by the Uttar Pradesh government for a rally in Farrukhabad on Nov 1.

IAC has planned a protest against Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid in Farrukhabad, his parliamentary constituency.

Mr Kejriwal had alleged that an NGO, headed by Mr Khurshid and his wife, was involved in irregularities.

An IAC activist said permission has been granted to organise the rally at Housing Development Department’s ground.

Earlier, the state administration had denied permission to IAC for the protest rally. Sanjay Singh, a key member of Mr Kejriwal’s team, wrote a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and asked him to intervene in the matter.

“Every citizen of the country has right to organise a peaceful protest. The NGO, headed by Mr Khurshid and his wife, was involved in irregularities of money meant for disabled persons. We want to organise a peaceful protest in Farrukhabad. The UP government cannot violate our right,” Mr Singh had said in the letter. (PTI)
