Women held for selling illicit liquor

Several women were arrested by the police here on Monday for selling illicit liquor. Police also seized and later destroyed 14 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 50 litres of country made liquor. The arrest was made after a raid conducted here at Polo Market on Monday. The arrested women were identified as Pasang Lama, Biljina Khongsit, Barisha Thabah, Christina Blah and Linda Nongbri.

Assault case

On Sunday at around 1 am, one Joshua Raplang (19 yrs) was assaulted by unknown miscreants at Lumkshaid, Lower Mawprem. As a result, he sustained injuries and was shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital.

On the same day at around 3.30 pm, one Sunil Paswan (26 yrs) was assaulted by unidentified miscreants at Mawbah. As a result, he sustained injuries and shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital.

Theft case

One Stand Mukhim lodged a complaint at Jowai PS that on October 21 night, six persons — Mar Snieh, Rime Mulen, Lawi Mulen, Opas Snieh, Darius Snieh and Head Snieh — stole fifteen sacks of paddy weighing around 1500 kg from Mukhnang (WJH) and removed the same in a truck (ML-04-1074).

Another complaint was lodged at Jowai PS that on October 22 at around 11 pm, four persons — Mar Snieh, Rime Mulen, Darius Snieh and Head Snieh — stole nineteen sacks of paddy weighing around 1900 kg from Lumstong Nongjngi (WJH) and removed the same in a truck (ML-04-1074).

Rape case

A complaint was lodged at Laban PS that on Saturday at around 12 noon, one Khambor Nongbet allegedly raped her daughter at Pomsanngut village (EKH).

A complaint was lodged at Baghmara PS that on October 25, Ashdul Hussain (21), Jairul Ahmed (18) and Hamidul Ali attempted to rape a minor girl (13) at Nengkhong Songmong (SGH). Police have arrested two of the accused.

Body recovered

On October 24, the body of one Jonas Shadap was recovered from near Jingkieng, Nongthymmai. Necessary formalities have been observed and investigation is in progress.

Extortion case

A complaint was lodged at Bajengdoba OP that on Saturday at around 7.30 pm, three persons — Sapjing Marak, Atkin R Marak and Menthinsa R Marak went to the house of one Renji Sangma at Dujonggre (NGH) and demanded money from her.
