TURA/ AMPATI, April 8: West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh has convoked a meeting to confer about measures to conduct peaceful holding of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections.
In a statement, the DC informed that the meeting will be held on Friday at the DRDA Conference Hall in Tura. In this regard, Singh has invited the presidents and secretaries of the Nokma Council, Garo Senior Citizens Forum, Garo Graduates’ Union, Mothers’ Union, New Tura Development Forum, church leaders and NGOs to attend the meeting.

Meanwhile, South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ramakrishna Chitturi has prohibited the assembly and holding of public meetings for a period of 48 hours starting from 4 pm of April 10. According to a statement, the order has been necessitated in view of the GHADC elections. (Contd on P-4)
