SHILLONG, April 20: While neighbouring Assam appears to be witnessing COVID surge courtesy the Maha Kumbh Mela attendees, the Meghalaya government does not have any information on the number of people from the state who attended the holy dip in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.
“We will be able to know once we know the history of their travelling at the entry point at Umling while returning to the state,” DHS (MI) Dr Aman War told reporters.
He said that they will have to create a designated place to segregate the people who attended the Kumbh Mela since they are possible carrier of the virus.
Earlier, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma assured of taking more effective steps to intensify the checking to ensure that people without mandatory tests do not succeed in entering the state.
