NPP’s Rakesh Sangma elected chairman of GHADC

TURA, April 21:  National People’s Party (NPP) MDC, Rakesh Sangma was elected as the  Chairman of the newly-elected Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) today.

Rakesh Sangma of NPP bagged 16 votes against 12 votes polled by his opponent from Congress to win the election.

Total 28 votes were cast while one MDC, Bernard Marak (BJP) of Tura, did not turn up to vote in the election.
