SHILLONG, April 21: Around one year since the Meghalaya government announced the setting up of two mini secretariats, one in Jowai and another in Tura, much of the work to pull off this infrastructural development is yet to be completed.
Jowai MLA, Wailadmiki Shylla, has asserted that the state government is in the process of finalising the land and other estimates for building the mini secretariat in Jowai.
The government had last year announced the construction of mini secretariats in two district headquarters — Jowai and Tura.
Speaking to media persons, Shylla emphasised that there is a need to decongest Jowai town.
It may be mentioned that the government, with the mini secretariat, plans to bring administration closer to the people and to decongest Jowai town.
Earlier, the state government had shifted the PWD (Roads) North Division office from Jowai to Shangpung, which was vehemently opposed.
Shylla, however, said that the opposition has been withdrawn.
