SHILLONG, April 22: Health Minister AL Hek on Thursday said that the state has enough stock of vaccine to see through the next 15 to 20 days and asserted that the central government would make vaccines available in case of any shortage.
“We have enough for the next 15-20 days but it would depend on the pace of the vaccination drive and the response of the people,” he said.
Asserting that the government is going for a massive vaccination drive, Hek said, “If people show up in large numbers then definitely there will be shortage but we have already asked the central government to provide the vaccines.”
“We are constantly in touch with the central government and every day we are holding discussions on vaccination and other related issues,” he added.
Asked whether the government would provide free vaccines to the age group of 18 to 44 years from May 1, the Health minister said, “We are yet to take a call on that.”
