NONGSTOIN, April 23: A special POCSO court in West Khasi Hills on Thursday convicted one Probit Marak of raping and killing a minor girl, and awarded him life imprisonment.
The offender had kidnapped, raped and murdered a minor girl on April 29, 2017, at Dorangre village, West Khasi Hills. It was following this, a case was registered with Shallang Police Station and Marak was nabbed subsequently.
The parents of the victim have been, meanwhile, granted a compensation of Rs three lakh.
