Collection of money, donations prohibited

 TURA: West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi has, through a communiqué, informed that collection of money, donations or subscriptions in any manner by individuals or groups from business establishments, individuals and vehicles at Tura and adjoining areas have been strictly prohibited with immediate effect.

The order stated that following reports of forceful collection of money by individuals and groups at Tura and its surrounding areas, the administration has deemed it necessary to prohibit such activities in order to prevent the breach of public tranquility and prevent loss of life.

It further stated that collection of money for donations or subscriptions by any individual or groups will be not be permitted without the Deputy Commissioner’s explicit written permission and that the prohibition order will come into force with immediate effect and will extend to the entire West Garo hills district until further orders.

The order will, however, not be applicable to authorized lessees of markets and toll gates who will have to adhere to the rates fixed by the authority under proper receipt.

Excess toll collection will tantamount to violation of the order and is liable for prosecution.
