SHILLONG: Chief Secretary WMS Pariat on Wednesday informed that the government has recently decided to formulate a special marking system for scouts and guides for recruitment into the police force.

Announcing this at the 62th foundation day celebration of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides (MBSG) at Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday, Pariat, who is also the president of the MBSG, said that additional marks will be given to members of the scouts and guides for recruitment into the police force.

This announcement has come as good news for the scouts and guides of the State considering that the State Police is currently undertaking the process of recruiting new police personnel.

Lauding the hard work and services of the scouts and guides for the welfare of the society, Pariat said these members already have the basic training when it comes to maintaining discipline and law and order.

“The scouts and guides movement which has grown in strength with each passing year with over 50 lakh members all over the country at present has captured the imaginations of many young boys and girls,” Pariat observed.
