Kohima: Nagaland is fast advancing with the New Renewable Energy and introduced a 50 Kilo Watt (KW) of energy capacity Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Power Plant the Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre (NBRC) in Dimapur, which acquired as an answer to the frequent power shortages that hinders the smooth operation of the Centre.
According to official sources here on Friday, MLA and Adviser to Nagaland Bamboo Develop-ment Agency L Temjen Jamir, formally unveiled the 50 KW capacity power plants on Thursday at the NBRC and the 200 Solar Panels installed at the NBRC with a capacity to generate 150-175 units of energy everyday and would be able to provide full-capacity power backup for three hours flat. In case of rain or fog, the mechanics of the plant have the alternate provision to charge the batteries through the conventional route of hydro-generated electricity.
The NBRC Solar Power, which is perhaps Nagaland’s most ambitious as well as expensive project aiming to introduce to the global market a brand of polished carats of green gold or bamboo, the actual cost of the plant is around Rs One Crore Thirty Five thousand.
The NBRC, however, had to dole out ‘only Rs thirteen lakh thirty five thousand’ in subsidised rate for the plant.
The rest 90 per cent of the cost was paid by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. (UNI)
