Kiang Nongbah, Umshyrpi College register wins

SHILLONG: Kiang Nongbah College defeated BBS College by 2 wickets while Umshyrpi College defeated Shillong College by 4 wickets in the Inter College Cricket Tournament 2012 organised by the Sports Department, NEHU, at Polo Grounds on Friday.

In the first match, Kiang Nongbah College won the toss and elected to field. BBS College scored 109 all out in 19.5 overs. Sandipan Chanda scored 31 runs of 25 balls while Sameki Marboh took 4 for 12 runs. In reply, Kiang Nongbah College reached the target in the fourth delivery of the last over losing 8 wickets. Jeffrey Litting scored 26 of 37 balls while Navin Sunar and Sanjiv Chetri took 3 wickets apiece.

In the second match, Shillong College won the toss and elected to bat scoring 118 all out in 25 overs. Wallam John Lyngdoh scored 38 of 42 balls while Ranjan Rai took 3 for 16 runs. In reply, Umshyrpi College reached the target in 21.5 overs losing 6 wickets. A captain’s knock of 53 of 47 balls by Peter Anglican helped Umshyrpi College come out of a disastrous position at one stage of thematch. Shanborlang Lyngdoh took 3 for 18 runs.
