SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF) has submitted the names and locations of the North East militant campus to Bangladesh during the border coordinated meeting between the BSF and the BSF held at Sylhet from November 5th to 8th . BSF PRO Ravi Gandhi on Friday said, “We have given them all the details and they have assured us of taking action against the insurgents.”
The Indian delegation of the BSF was led by Meghalaya frontier IG Sudesh Kumar and accompanied by sector DIGs under Tripura, Mizoram and other frontiers.
During the meeting, the BSF also raised the security related issues including the presence of insurgent groups like GNLA, HNLC, NDFB,NLFT in Bangladesh territory.
The four day meeting also emphasised on the need for joint efforts to prevent smuggling of fake Indian Currency as the FICN had send to India. The BSF are after those criminals on the Indian side who are partners in crime.
The BSF also raised the issue of llegal migration and infiltration by Bangladeshi nationals into Indian territory as in the past one month more than seventy Bangladeshi illegal immigrants have been apprehended by the BSF in Meghalaya.
“They told us that they are making people aware through different programmes urging them not to cross the international border illegally,” he said.
The BSF also raised the issues of attacks and assaults on the BSF personnel, unarmed Indian civilians and other provocative action by the Bangladeshi criminals. Trans-border crimes like smuggling of forest produce, cattle smuggling, etc. committed by Bangladeshi criminals inside Indian Territory were also raised during the meeting.
The Border Guards of the Bangladesh delegation during the meet emphasised upon the firing off on the Bangladesh nationals by the Indian nationals besides kidnapping, apprehension of Bangladeshi nationals, Illegal trespassing by Indian nationals into the Bangladesh territory, smuggling of various types of drugs and narcotics including Phensedyl, Wine and Hashish from India to Bangladesh.
BSF mentioned that BSF along with Indian nationals are exercising maximum restrain and resort to firing as it is the last option when it comes to self defence.
It was also mentioned that the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel are now using the non-lethal weapons like pump-action guns and stun grenades along the Indo-Bangla border, which has resulted in considerable change in the environment on the border.
Both sides have also agreed to increase sharing of action intelligence to curb trans-border crimes.
