GUWAHATI, May 9:  Sarbananda Sonowal resigns as the Chief Minister of Assam today as Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to be selected by the BJP Legislative Party as the next Chief Minister of Assam in the meeting to be held later today, according to a source in the BJP.
