Dry Day

November 13 has been declarted as Dry Day throughout the entire East Khasi Hills district on account of Diwali. All IMFL shops, bars, restaurants etc will remain closed on the day.

Submission

The last date for submission of application forms for recruitment to the various posts in the Meghalaya police has been extended upto November 21. The cut-off date of the candidates however will continue to be November 15 as indicated.

Wangala Fetival

The 100 drums achik Wanglala festival will be held at Pdealadoba, West Garo Hills on December 13 and 14. Various indigenous games will also be organised during the two day festival.

Opening ceremony

The opening ceremony of the 59th All India cooperative Week Celebration 2012 will be held on November 14, at 1 PM in Mawkyrwat community hall. Deputy Chief Minister and in-charge of Health and Family Welfare Rowell Lyngdoh will be the chief guest.

Birth anniversary

Shillong Bhanu Jayanti celebration committee celebrated the 103rd birth anniversary of Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota on November 11 by organising a multilingual poets meet at Gorkha Pathshala auditorium, where poets from various liguistic commuities presented their compositions.

Prof Streamlet Dkhar of the Khasi department, NEHU, mesmerised the audience with her rendition of a “Khasi”. A “bhailo” competition was also organised on the occasion.

Kali Puja

Laban puja committee, VMC will celebrate Sri Sri Kali Puja and Diwali at the Laban Police Station premises on November 13-14. All are invited to take part in the celebration.
